Chronic Stress: Unlike acute stress, chronic stress is long-term and results from ongoing issues such as financial difficulties, an unhappy relationship, or a demanding job. Chronic stress is harmful because it wears down your body and mind over time, leading to serious health problems like heart disease, high blood pressure, and depression.
Impact of Stress
Physical Effects: Chronic stress can manifest physically through headaches, muscle tension, fatigue, and sleep disturbances. It can also weaken your immune system, making you more susceptible to illnesses.
Mental Effects: Mentally, stress can cause anxiety, irritability, depression, and difficulty concentrating. It can impair your ability to think clearly, make decisions, and remember information.
